HO SCALE: Canadian Atlantic RR
This design for the Canadian Atlantic Railroad System (since renamed the Canadian Atlantic Railway) was started back in early February of 2019, for a friend of mine. The layout was to be done in HO-scale and would depict a prototype-freelanced line set in the present day. Although the layout owner had a list of G&Ds that he wanted to see included in the plan, the final design was pretty much left up to me, and how I wanted to use the space. Over the course of a few weeks, the design was tweaked and improved until the final version was approved at the end of February.
While the CAR is fictional, it is based on the premise that the railway company acquired a few existing and defunct lines in all three Maritime provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island) of Canada, along with a connecting line to the US. The connection between PEI and the mainline was accomplish by a railcar ferry that once existed on the Northumberland Strait, which linked Port Borden with Cape Tormentine.
The Canadian Atlantic Railway (CAR) operates three subsidiary lines which include the New Brunswick Railway (NBR), the Prince Edward Island Railway (PEIR) and the Canadian Atlantic & Maine (CAM). Along with the layout design, I also created a system map for the railway, and designed three of the require logos for the railway system.
