HO SCALE: International Pulp and Paper Company

This design was done for a client back in March of 2019 that liked the paper mill I used on my Great Lakes & New England Ry design which was actually taken from another layout that was in progress for yet another client and his Brownville & Ashland Ry (Yes, I do like to recycle my pixels.) This latest client was looking for a single industry to model, and decided to settle on a paper mill after seeing the one on the GL&NE.

My client wanted to see if I could reduce the paper mill to a board that was less than 8-feet long, and no more than 14-inches wide, while keeping as much of the original mill intact as possible. I was able to reduced the paper mill to a 12" x 84" shelf with a 48" long drop down track, but removed the pulpwood receiving track. That leaves the mill with 10 car spots which I have shown on one of the graphic for the layout. It also allowed a sorting track that has enough room for eight 50-foot cars. Not too shabby for a modern-day layout that's only 7 square feet.
