HO SCALE: Iowa Branch Line Railway

This modern-day prairie branch line railway was done for a client back in March of 2019. Originally he had seen an N-scale layout I designed to fit on a hollow core door, and he wanted to try and duplicate that in HO-scale on a 4x8 sheet of plywood. I knew that it would be impossible to give him everything he wanted in such a limited space, so I suggested that he cut the sheet of plywood into three 16-inch wide strips, and make a shelf layout. He was a bit hesitant at first, but eventually saw that he could incorporate the layout into a set of shelves he all ready had in his family room. When he started, my client was looking for a layout that wouldn't take up much space, and ended up with a much better one that didn't take up any additional space in his home. While the layout still only occupies 32 sq. ft. (which could also be done in less space) I feel it is a practical long-term modeling project that will offer a great deal of operating potential, and enough scenes to keep a modeler busy detailing.
