HO SCALE: Sacramento Northern

This design was done for a client back in May of 2018 who wanted an HO-scale layout to fit in his spare bedroom plus it's closet space. The layout was to be set in northern California sometime during the fall in the 1930s. Since this was my client's first room-sized layout, he didn't really want anything too complex, but he did want a good level of operations. My client was interested in a switching layout, since it was the operations that interested him the most. However, he also wanted a design that offer some running of branch line trains, with an interchange with a mainline railway, or a car float.

The layout was to be based on the Sacramento Northern's operations in and around Concord, California and my client wanted to include some other nearby major industries, such as a steel foundry, a brickyard, a pulp and paper mill, or a radium mill and reducing plant. However, he only wanted to include a single major industry to stay within the context of a smallish mid-size town setting.
